Browning BAR 270

2016/7/22 9:16:28

Question
Jim, I have owned a Browning 270 caliber semi auto rifle, SN # 95331M69
since approx 1994. From what I was able to research at the Browning
website, I believe the rifle was made in 1969. The barrel is stamped
Browning Arms Co, Made in Belgium. The rifle is in good overall condition
(no damage to the stock, no pitting or corrosion, etc) and has not been fired
in over 7 years.
My questions are: 1) To your knowledge, is there a large number of these
type of rifles in circulation?
2) What reference guide would be best to refer to for a pricing guide on this
rifle?
Thanks for your time and assistance.
Brian

Answer
Brian,

Your rifle was made in 1969 and assuming it is a Grade I (no engraving) and it is in 98+% condition, you might expect to receive $600-$650 for the rifle. Browning did make a large number of the grade I BARs, but condition means everything when talking about value. The Blue Book of Gun Values is an ok reference guide, but remember, it is only a general reference. Hope this helps.

Jim
