I was wondering about the law on BBguns in Steuben County, New York. Can't seem to find anything.  Have a 12 year old grandson who wants one.

I cannot find any law prohibiting BB Guns in Steuben County.  To be absolutely sure, I'd check with the local sporting goods store where you would buy the BB gun.

Make sure that in addition to any BB gun you might get him, you also make sure that he understands that this is a 'real' gun and not a toy.  You should make sure that he is aware of the Four Rules of Firearms Safety.

1.  Always treat any guns as if it is loaded until you have personally determined it is not.  It is not good enough to 'think' it is unloaded you must 'know' for sure.

2.  Never point the muzzle of a firearm at anything you don't intend to shoot.

3.  Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to shoot.

4.  Be aware of your target and what is behind it.  Make sure that your projectile will end up in a safe place if you miss your intended target.
