Question
QUESTION: I have an older model Browning T-Bolt. I was wondering, how can you tell what year it was made? I believe it is the T1 model without the checkering. It is a 22LR with a clip. It was made in Belgium. It has a walnut stock and both the stock and barrel are in very good condition. Any idea on the value of this gun? Thanks, George
ANSWER: George,
You can tell the year of manufacture by the serial number. If you can provide that I can tell you when it was made.

QUESTION: The serial number is 5988 x6. Any info would be very helpful. Thanks again, George
Answer
George,
The serial number provided shows the rifle was made in 1966. I believe 1965 was the first year production for the T-Bolt. Oddly enough the T-Bolt was named by a Secretary at the Arnold, Missouri Browning facility. Browning had a contest amongst the employees to name the rifle and she was rewarded with a savings bond of $10 I believe.
As far as value, it all depends on condition. Most t-bolts that are MINT and new in the box are bringing $500-$600, but I could be off a little.
Hope this helps.
