Question
Jim, I recently sent serial no. for browning a5 16 gauge for dating, unfortunantly I omitted the first letter, The serial no. reads X6575. It is a 16, safety forward, non gold trigger A5.It also has a cutts compensator. While in excellent shape, I plan to use this gun as much as I can.I also would like to know if replacing the Cutts with a Poly choke would be wise as I prefer the looks of a poly and am more interested in performance than loss of value. Kids were already informed it would be buried with me..... Thanks
Answer
Roddy,
The "x" makes a difference in the year of mfg. Yours was made in 1947. As far as compensators..... I don't know anything about them as I have never shot one with the comps. Your shotgun is a standard sixteen vs the Sweet sixteen. Hope this helps.
