We, alcoholic beverage importers, are trying to identify the most popular weapon models in the US to make moulds and then weapon model-shaped bottles - to fill them with vodka and brandy.

Thanks and best regards,

Answer
Wow, that's certainly an interesting proposition. Bundle your produce with cigars and firecrackers and you'll be packaging the whole ATFE experience.
We'll in answer to your questions in order (this is, of course, not scientific, but is my impression)
1. M-16, AK-47, MP-5 are the most generally recognized by the general public, probably in that order.
2. Army: M-4 (14.5" barrel version of the M-16); Navy: M-16 generally, M-4, MP-5, M-14 among the elite groups; Tactical teams: the M-4 and MP-5. The USMC uses the M-16 due to its longer barrel.
I wouldn't know how to rate "popularity" of the HK guns on a scale of 1-10 for the various groups you mention. The HK gun takes a handgun cartridge (9x19 NATO), and is much less powerful that the intermediate carbine cartridge of the M-4 (5.56x45 NATO). Whether that is a good or a bad thing depends on the mission.
