QUESTION: i recently came into possesion of a belgian made browning with a serial number of x34007.only number that looks like a serial number.tried numerous links but nothing i could find matched this number.has a gold trigger and vented rib with the rounded grip. looks like an older gun. the 4007 is also on the reciever and on a pin on each side of the reciever.when cleaning it was also under the forearm. hate to bother you with this as i know you have more important issues to deal with, but i need help. thanx for any info. kenny

QUESTION: thanks ,found the info right away. another question. i have a thompson contendor with a 357 maximum barrel. is this barrel compatible with any other 357 cartridges, as this round is hard to find.was considering the 357 hornandy for deer hunting.

Hi Kenny.
The 357 Maximum is basically a 357 Magnum cartridge which has been lengthened slightly to accomodate more powder and drive higher velocities. It is probably safe to fire regular 357 Magnum cartridges in most guns made for 357 Maximum but not always. To be sure you would need to check with the manufacturer.
