Question
QUESTION: Dear Jim, I have an older Belgium Browning 22.It was passed down to me by my grandfather.I have no way of identifying the gun and I'm in need of the magazine for it. Is there any way to ID the gun (I have minimal knowledge) by the serial # 3469x5, and what model it is,and where if anywhere to find a magazine. Your expertice would be appreciated. Thanks, Adam
ANSWER: Adam,
I believe you are referencing a .22 auto takedown rifle, but cannot be sure. If it is a takedown model, they did not use magazines as the shells go into the butt stock and after firing fall out of the bottom of the receiver. If it is bolt action it is the T bolt and sometimes you can find magazines on Ebay or contact Brownells.com for an aftermarket magazine. If the X in the serial number you reference is a U or T and the gun is a pistol. The U signifies it is a Browning Challenger and the T means it would be a Medalist. In either case, the magazine is the same for the pistol and they to can be found on Ebay. Hope this helps.

QUESTION: Dear Jim,
I know it has a magazine, I've shot it many times. The serial numbers are as I gave you, the x is a x. It has wierd symbols on the bolt and the barrel. I also have a Japan Browning 22, lever action. Do you know where I can find out information on it? Thank you for your time. Adam
Answer
Adam,
The first .22 rifle you reference. It is a bolt action, correct? If so, you have a T Bolt and it was made in 1965 which I believe is a first year production for the T-bolt. The lever action is most likely a Browning BLR and information for that rifle can most likely be found on www.browning.com. Hope this helps.
