Question
I am looking for the correct Weaver scope ring bases for a Mark X Interarms rifle. A prior owner has equipped it with a # 55 rear base, and a 20 A front base. These are correct for a Mauser--but are not level for the Mark X---can anyone help me out here with info.
Answer
Hello Mark. There were actually eight different models of the Interarms Mark X. These were, with a very slight modification, built around the Mauser 98 action. It was manufactured in Yugoslavia. The standard Mark X rifle was chambered in the original length Mauser action. Using the WeaverMount numbers, the standard does use the #55-rear and #20A-front. There was another Action called the MINI-MARK X. It was a shorter action chambered for the .223 Rem. and the 7.62x39mm. The mounts for it are #23R-rear and #71A-front. Then there were models called the Mark X Viscount and the Mark X Whitworth. These two models call for #45-rear and #46-front. There is also an extended front mount #402. This Mauser-Actioned rifle is not imported at this time, but remains a very dependable firearm. One word of caution. Make sure the forearm bolt stays tight. I had one work it's way out on the .30-06 caliber during range-fire. I hope this information helps solve your question. Charles Gage
