1917 German Ruger

Hello Charles,

I have recently obtained a 1917 German Ruger pistol.  It is very similar to all other .22 caliber Ruger pistols but it has a long slim barrel.  The pistol is in great shape.  It is safe to fire with no noticeable defects other than a piece of the wood on the clip is broken.  The gun has what appears to be the original leather/wooden hip holster.  How can I research the pistol and what you guess the value range to be?  Thank you in advance.

 Hello Chad. First, we need to get more acquainted with this pistol. You say it is a German Ruger and that it is very similar to all .22 caliber Rugers. You also mention that it has a piece of wood broken from the clip. Give me all the writing or marks on it. I will need these.
 If it is a Ruger, it was made in Southport, Connecticut, U.S.A. beginning in 1949 and has no German ancestry at all. If it is a 1917 German Luger, it is not a .22 caliber, but a 9mm perabellum. Wherever the clip came from, it is made of metal, therefore, it could not have a piece of wood broken off it.
