My Shotgun

Question
I recently bought a savage 750sc semi auto shotgun. I dont know how familiar you may be with this gun, but the barrel indicates it is in fact 12 gauge, but does not indicate what length. I measured it and it seemed to be two and a half, but I could only find 2 3/4 and 3 at the store(I may not be looking hard enough). The cartridges didnt seem to feed right after cocking it repeatedly or once, I havnt shot the gun yet becuase I want to make sure I get the right ammo. When I pull back the slide on the right the action doesnt allow the cartridge up so Im thinking there is some kind of 12ga 2 1/2 inch I didnt see. Do you know the specifications for my gun??
Answer
It should be 2 3/4 inch as it was made from 1960 to 1963.
You can remove the barrel and measure from the forcing cone
to the end of the chamber. itd should be a little under 3 inches
It is licenced verson of the Browning design. (Auto-5)
It should function the same.
Here a look at the Auto 5

If it doesn't function like this take it to gunsmith and have it looked at.
