Question
We have inherited the above gun. It has a circle with a 22 in them middle in front of the trigger guard. It is possible a JStevens Arms X80091. Can you give me any info as to a year this gun was produced and if there is any information on the value? Thank you.
Answer
Hello Karen. You have inherited a good quality old shotgun. These were manufactured between 1920's to 1940's. It is very difficult to date one by a serial number since most did not have them. The value would be according to it's condition. Usually in the range of $100.00 to $175.00.First have a competent professional gunsmith check it over. If it is borderline, put it in a frame and mount it on your wall. For a more accurate date of manufacture, there is an individual that can get you closer. I will include his information.
