Question
Hello.I am the proud owner of a double barrell side by side browning, serial no.:0118A71. all i know is it came from New York in the 70's but is enscribed made in japan... Can you help..Any information on it?

Answer
Daniel,

I suspect you have a Browning BSS (Browning Side by Side). They made them in 20 and 12 guage. I own two of them, but I am not very familiar with them. I suspect your shotgun was made in 1971 as evident by the 71 after the A in the serial number. There were at least three grades in the BSS and they came in either the standard stock configuration with a square knob pistol grip handle and a sporter model that had a straigt stock similiar to the superlites. Hope this helps.

Jim
