Question
Hi,
I was wondering how much my : 22 Rifle Bolt Action made in 1935 was worth. It is in excellent condition. On the rifle it shows Savage Arms Corp. Utica,NY Model 6 Thank-you,James
Answer
Hello James. First, Savage began manufacture of the Model 6 in 1938. It was a straight-pull bolt action with an adjustment to fire simi-automatic.The early model from 1938-1960 was capable of firing simi-auto with .22 LR ammunition only. Beginning in 1961, the Model 6A and 6D Deluxe were capable of firing 22LR,22L and 22 High-velocity Shorts in the simi-auto mode. Stevens Model 87 and Springfield Model 187 were very similar. As far as value, it is impossible to give a definite price, since I don't have it in hand. I can, however, say that I have seen very few on auction and those were in the $125-$175 price range. I hope This information helps and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
