QuestionHi Bob, I recently purchased a Mossberg 4x4 in 30.06 and am looking for a larger clip. I was told by a friend that he thought an AK47, or possibly an AR15 clip would fit but he wasn't sure. I've looked everywhere online, and asked the clerks where I bought the gun, and can't find anyone who knows for sure. I don't have any shops close by that have a good variety of clips for me to just try it out before I buy to make sure they fit, so online is my only option. Do you know of any other, larger clips either banana style or other that would fit this rifle.
Thanks for your time.
AnswerHello Matt.
I read some info about the Mossberg 4x4 which led me to believe that it has a proprietary magazine design, and if so then you will probably need to order magazines that were made specifically for it. It is possible that Mossberg used a standard design to facilitate compatibility with other parts on the market but you would have to call them to be sure. Here is their info:

They don't mention an interchangeable magazine design in their product specifications so I highly doubt that it will work with magazines from other guns but you never know. Even if it is a special design you might still be able to get a high capacity magazine direct from Mossberg or from various aftermarket suppliers. Checkout the following shops to see what they have:
http://www.midwayusa.com/
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/
http://www.cabelas.com/
http://www.sportsmansguide.com/
http://www.cdnninvestments.com/
http://www.brownells.com/
If one of those sites don't have it then chances are that it doesn't exist, but you may need to call them since they often have products which are not listed on the web.
In a worst case scenario you can always ask a local gunsmith and they might be able to modify an existing magazine to work for you. Or just wait a little longer and newer high-capacity magazines are likely to hit the shelves.
Good luck!
Bob
