Question
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A SIGMA S&W 40V FROM AN ESTATE. DO YOU KNOW OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS SMITH & WESSON 40 CAL. AUTOMATIC. THIS IS AN OLD HAND GUN BUT IS NIB CONDITION. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFO ON THIS GUN IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME AND HELP. ROGER
Answer
Hi Roger.
I have the same gun. Purchased mine used as well. I am not aware of any problems or special defects. I recommend calling S&W and they will send you a free instruction manual. While you have them on the phone you can ask if they ever had any recalls for your model. They can also tell you when it was made based on your serial number.
When you receive the manual then unload it, disassemble it, and clean it exactly as shown in the manual. If anything looks out of whack then take it to a local gunsmith for a safety inspection.
