Question
Hi, I have an H & R Arms Comp, Worcester MASS pistol from my great grandfather. THe top left barrell says
32 S & W CTGE
YOUNG AMERICA
DOUBLE Action
It has a black handle with scroll work, the rest of the gun is silver. It has an octagon barrell, 5 holes I believe. Do you have any information as far as age ? Or, do you know anyone that knows about these guns ? Thanks !
Answer
Hi Barbara.
Your gun was made by Harrington & Richardson. Here is some basic info about the manufacturer:
https://store.bluebookinc.com/InstantAccess/Category.aspx?product=5&id=438
You can look your specific gun up in the blue book and purchase the blue book value data if desired. Here is the link to your data:
https://store.bluebookinc.com/InstantAccess/Model.aspx?product=5&id=2045
The blue book also publishes some serial number data to help determine the age of certain firearms although the H&R guns may not be included as they were quite common and usually have very little value. Here is a link to the serial number section:

If you need more information then you can use these general links which may help:

Hope this helps. Good luck!
