Answer
Hello Diedrich. I have been struggling with this research for two days now and have narrowed it down to a Walther Model 7. There are no factory records before 1945 since they were all destroyed in a factory fire. Carl Walther began his manufacturing firearms in 1886 at the Zella-Mehlis factory. This factory was used until 1945 when it was sold. Picture reference was all I had to go on, since many of the pistols were not identified by model numbers. From these pictures and descriptions I have come to the conclusion your pistol is one of the versions of a Model 7. I am giving you the opportunity to begin your search where I left off. Here is the last of many sites I researched. www.unblinkingeye.com/Guns/Walther. I hope my answer will lead to somewhere for you and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
