Question
I have my Grandfather's J. Stevens Arms Company "Favorite" Model 1915 Cal. 22 Long Rifle Lever Action Single Shot. The only thing that looks like a serial number is U853 on bottom under the lever. The gun appears is excellent condition with no rust marks, etc. Any history or values would be nice. Thanks

Answer
Hello Jerry. Your J. Stevens Arms Company Favorite Model 1915 in .22 caliber was manufactured between 1936 and 1945. Cannot pin-point exact date due to the loss of records in the 60's. Blue Book by Fjestad shows a value of rifle in Good Condition(60%) at $80.00 to Excellent Condition(100%) at $200.00. There are other sources you can check for Todays Going Prices. GunsAmerica is one I use. Just Google it and get the web site. As for the U853, This generally was connected to the part number of the firearm, not serial number. I hope this answered your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
