A question about gun magazines

Question
Hi Bob!
I was wondering if you could help answer a question my friend and I were curious about. It may seem quite trivial but it'd be a great help if you could put our curiosity at ease!
Some handguns hold six bullets, others hold different numbers, but which gun would you say can fire the most bullets before needing to be reloaded? In other words, what's the highest capacity of a magazine and how many bullets does it hold?
Many thanks for (hopefully) taking the time to answer that question, despite the fact it's a bit trivial!
Thank you
Chris
Answer
Hi Chris.
Most revolvers tend to have a capacity of 9 rounds or less, with 5 or 6 rounds being very common in guns that are designed for hunting or defensive use.
The capacity of most semi-automatic handguns will vary from 6 to 20 rounds depending on the caliber and frame size. For many of these semi-auto handguns you can purchase additional magazines which are longer or much larger than the factory magazines so they can hold up to 30, 50, or even 100 rounds, however in most scenarios it would not be practical to hold and fire a handgun with such a large magazine.
And of course there are lots of rare or special purpose guns out there which may hold just 1 round or in excess of 20 rounds without being reloaded. It all depends on the caliber, cylinder or magazine size, and the design of the firearm.
Hope this helps.
Bob
