change in OK CCW Law

Question
Doug, a while back you encouraged me to try and change the Oklahoma law for CCW permits. I had questioned you about my inability to get my permit in Oklahoma with a misdemeanor drug offense from 1997 haunting me. Well, I am half way there as House Bill 1449 just passed the OK House today. I have been working hard and the changes are: there is now a 10 year limit on any non-violent misdemeanor as a disqualifier. After 10 years it never happened as far as the permit process is concerned. Also, retired and ex military with an Honorable Discharge pay the processing fee one time and the permit will be good for life.
Thanks for your encouragement. I do not like being told no without good cause! Under the new law, I will be eligible for my CCW after all! :)
Thanks for getting me started. I have learned a lot about the way state government works through this process and being successful just makes it that much better. We have a sponsor in the OK Senate who will see the bill through (it is the same Representative who sponsored the law allowing concealed weapons in locked cars at work).
I will keep you informed as this Bill completes the process, but it quite likely it will pass and I have a letter from the Gov. stating he will sign it when/if it comes to his desk.
Thanks again for the inspirations and I encourage everyone to get involved in your states gun laws. If you don't think they are fair, stop whining and work at getting them changed! You have more power than you think! As Captain Picard would say, if you want the law changed 揗ake it So!?br>
Answer
Robert,
This is great news! But the really great news is that you became 'part of the solution'. We all need to remember that the 'government' works for 'we the people' instead of the other way around.
Thanks for the update and also thanks for letting me play a small role in your ability to enact huge positive change in OK Concealed Carry law. Well done indeed!!!
Best,
Doug
