Question
Paul,
I noticed a post you made for a N.R. Davis and Sons 12ga shotgun with damascus barrels. I posted a note that my son has just purchased a hammerless version of that gun (double bbbl; I'm not sure what they made...)You mentioned the numbers may have been part numbers, rather than a serial number. I was wondering if the fact this gun has no identifying model (you mentioned the model would be designated: ie Hammerless, etc) is it possible this one is early or late in production, based on the fact it has NO model markings or any other markings, save for the #49 on several parts of the gun. My son disassembled it and can find no other markings on it. He gave $150 for it and it appears fairly tight. I told him to see if a gunsmith would give it a clean bill of health to shoot with blackpowder loads...speaking of which, do you know of anyone who sells blackpowder (either all brass or brass/paper) shotshells? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Rob
Answer
Hi,
What the exact company name and city it was made in?
Some didn't have model on them.
When its at the gunsmith he can match it up to pictures and determine its model.
You good advice in this, have the gun checked,
If its damascus it be unsafe.
There are couple companies make black powder shotshells.
