i have my dads old western field shotgun pump action 12 gauge model M55OaBD serial number H106655 my dad was never really into shooting or hunting i guess he bought it for protection he dosent remember when he got it and dosent know anything about it its chambered for a 2 3/4 or 3 inch and has a screw on c-lect choke any info u might know about it would be nice but would be nice but what i would like to know is if it is ok to shoot a slug through and i also read something that it was made by moserberg more than likely do u have any info

You have a store branded version of Mossberg Model 500.
You can fire slugs through a C-Lect choke set improved cylinder.
I would not recommend it. You get get far better results
with a slug barrel. Its easy change the barrel.

The C-lect (mossbergs name for Polychoke system) puts it as made no later than mid 1970s. They switched to the Accu-choke (Mossbergs version of the Winchoke system) The gun went into production 1961
A lot of police departments use the model 500.
