Question
QUESTION: My father has a 12guage winchester that is a pump. His friends enjoy shooting clays from a launcher but he complains he does not have the right gun. What would be the best beginner clay/skeet gun that he could advance from informal clays to beginning skeet contests. He is 6'5" so what sizes should i be looking at.
ANSWER: In general people use semi-auto or under/over guns.
It comes down to personal preference and your budget.
You would want it to have interchange chokes.
How much do you wish to spend on it?
I can give you suggestion once I know that.

QUESTION: i would like to spend $500 or less but after looking at guns i think i may have
to adjust that upward! what is the difference between semi auto and o/u. I
looked at a site that had a lot of o/u and side by side but no semi auto's. if
you could suggest some models to look at that would be great.
btw your site is no longer active - tks
Answer
You should be able to find a good used Remington 1100 or 11-87, Winchester model 1400, 1500, or Ranger 140, or Browning A-5 for under $500. Just make sure it has screw in chokes.
If you want an under/over the Mossberg silver reserve
can be purchased for a little over $500
The Remington 1100 are still made as is the 11-87.
$700 to $800
Mossberg Model 930 auto-loader can be had for around $500
Personally I buy the used semi-auto.
Then start put away the money for a quality under/over.
$1500 to $2500 new.
That web page is gone a long time ago.
