Question
QUESTION: My friend has two guns he wants to sell me because he is hurting for money one is his Grandfathers model 94 Win. it is a 30-30 have herd they were not a real good gun.The next gun and the one I have never herd of me for is his fathers Interarm's 300 mag never herd of this gun maker is it a good gun.I know that you sed you do not talk about money but do you thank $350 is to much for both plus the case and amo for them
ANSWER: John,
First let me correct a misconception. A well maintained Winchester Model 94 is a great shooting rifle. I have one myself and would not sell it if I didn't have a dime to my name. The guns made prior to 1964 are better quality that those built later. Since you said it was your friend's grandfather's gun, it is probably pre-1964 (unless your friend is really young...)
The Model 94, depending on the condition is probably worth between $250 and $350 by itself.
In terms of the Interarms rifles. Interarms did not manufacture guns. They were a very large importer of rifles and handguns from 1962 to 1999. The rifles they imported were made by a variety of companies including Howa, FEG, Rossi and Walther. There were also guns made by Whitworth in England and Zastava Arms in Yugoslavia. Without knowing which model you have (300 Win. Mag was a popular caliber for these guns), I really can't tell you specific values to expect although in general you could expect to see values between $275 and $350 depending on what it is and what condition it is in.
Overall, if you are being offered $350 for both guns, you are getting a smoking deal. Your friend clearly does not know what the rifles are worth...
Hope this helps you out...

QUESTION: the model on the interarms is a mark x and my friend ask me what the guns were worth so I looked them up in my gun book and it put both of them for around $150 so I told him $350 just to help him out
ANSWER: John,
Clearly it depends on the condition of the guns. If they are in 80% condition or less they are worth less, but even in 80% condition, the Mark X is worth $225-$250 and the Model 94 is worth $200. I don't know what you are using for your valuation, but I am using values from the 28th edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values.
If they are in decent shape, $350 still sounds like a heck of a deal to me.

QUESTION: I'm using the "The Official Gun Digest Guns & Prices 3rd Edition" is this a go book to base price by or should I get the book you have
Answer
John,
In my opinion the Blue Book of Gun Values is much better. It is updated annually and is extremely complete. Most dealers I know use it...
Not saying yours isn't good, the Blue Book just the one that I have always used and I have found the values to track the market well.
Hope this helps...
