Question
I recently inherited a Harrington & Richardson 7 shot .22 pistol with a S/N 3339L8 (on the handle). On the top of the barrel is stamped: Harrington & Richardson Arms Co, Worcester Mass. USA (on 2 lines) On the left side the barrel is stamped 22 RIM FIRE. I am interested in the date of manufacture and any other information that may be available
Answer
Hello Lenny. Although it is very difficult to date a H&R by using a serial number, the stampings on the barrel can get us close. Your revolver has the H&R name and address in the top of the barrel and the caliber on the left side of the barrel. In the stampings on the barrel, there are no patent numbers. The state of Massachusetts is abbreviated to MASS. And there is nothing but the caliber on the left side of the barrel. These stampings usualy apply to the H&R 4th variation manufactured from 1904 to 1915. I hope this information helps and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
