Question
Bob: My husband bought me a Revelation 12 gauge today at Cabalas for $129.00. I am researching the gun and can not find when this gun was made. I am not concerned about the value because we bought it for me to use for home defense. Can you tell me what year this gun was made approximately? Thanks, Teresa
Answer
Hello Teresa.
The Revelation shotguns were sold under the trade name "Western Auto" and they were manufactured by Mossberg. The Western Auto model 310AB is equivalent to a Mossberg model 500AB. You can view the entire store brand crossover list here:
Check out the following site for a brief overview of Mossberg history and the value of their guns:

Most of the store brand guns like Western Auto have very little value and they are not usually listed in the blue book due to the low values and high number of them on the market. They are typically only good for sentimental reasons or apractical shooting, assuming of course that they are still in good shape and are safe to shoot. If in doubt then have it checked out by a local gunsmith prior to shooting it.
You should call Mossberg to see if they can tell you how old the gun is but they probably do not have records from that long ago. Good luck in your research!
Hope this helps.
