My husband is a felon

2016/7/22 9:10:15

Question
My husband is a felon and I'm wanting to purchase a firearm for my own use... Can I do this without getting him into trouble? I live in New Mexico by the way. Thank You

Answer
Audrey, I think you should consult an attorney about this. Technically, the answer is yes, you should be able to purchase a firearm for your own use, but I can also imagine how it could be construed to appear to be a "straw purchase" and get not only him, but you, into trouble. Consulting an attorney, saving a copy of this email and whatever other steps you take to do things properly and legally could be used by your counsel to show that you were not attempting to do anything illegal should that ever become an accusation.

Good luck.
