Question
Hello Doug. Like many people that you've come across through your time doing this Have wondered the value of a peticular gun.
Well I'm not much different. The only difference is, I'm in search for a dear family friend who has just lost thier father and they need to find out the worth of his collection.
The gun in question is the Bryco .38 automatic. Silver with a with-ish handle.
If you could give me or us a point to any idea to what its worth it would be greatly thanked.
Hope to hear from you soon, Jon.
Answer
Jon,
There were several models that Bryco made in .380 auto. They made an M38, M48, M5 and M59, all available in .380 auto. The value for all but the M38 are about the same. The value for an M38 in good condition is around $35-$40. For all other models, a gun in good condition $55-$65. These were not very expensive guns to begin with. In fact, they were generally considered to be the prototypical "Saturday night Special" type of gun.
Bryco's also had some quality issues which ultimately resulted in them going out of business. A product liability lawsuit filed by the California Attorney General's office probably didn't help them much.
Hope this helps you out...
Best regards,
Doug Little
