Winchester Model 1892

2016/7/22 9:09:47

Question
I have a model 1892 Winchester in 25-20 caliber that is in better than very good condition, how do I get an honest appraisel or get letter from factory when it was made?

Answer
Steve,

Your Model 1892 is a pretty valuable rifle even in only fair condition.  You should probably consult an expert in antique firearms.  In excellent condition your gun could be worth as much as $2500.  If have the 'deluxe' model with lots of checkering on a fancy pistol grip, it is worth even more.

These guns were made between 1899 and 1941.  Approximately 1,000,000 were made.  In terms of serial numbers, if you visit this website:

http://oldguns.net/sn_php/windateslookup.php

and type in your serial number it will provide you with the date of manufacture.

Winchester does not provide any letter of authentication for their rifles.  You might check this website:

Hope this helps you out.

Regards,

Doug Little
