Question
How do I get the magazine to hold more rounds in a Winchester (model 1400) 12 guage 2 & 3/4 inch chamber, (semi-auto) shotgun?
Answer
Hello Daniel. Sorry, but the gas check that works the semi-auto cycle in the Winchester Model 1400 is located in such a way that a magazine extension cannot be used on it. There are, however, shorter shells on the market. You can get them in 1 3/4", 2" and 2 1/2". I have used these in my older double guns, and a Winchester Model 1300 will cycle them. You can find these at Midway USA. The brands are Aguila and Gamebore. I cannot say if they are powerful enough to cycle your 1400 action, but this is the only way you can extend the capacity of a Winchester Model 1400. Magazine extensions are available for Remington and Mossberg shotguns and also for the Winchester 1200 and 1300 models. These are all pumps. If extra capacity is necessary, maybe consider selling your 1400 or just picking up one of these guns. The Mossberg Model 500 with extension and other tactical items can be picked up from $200.00 used to $400.00 new. I hope this helps answer your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
