J. Stevens Arms 22 Long rifle 1913 crack shot

2016/7/22 9:09:10

Question
I was wondering what this the value of this gun? On the barrow it has:  J. Stevens Arms Co Chicopee Falls, Mass U.S.A.
     22 Long Rifle - Made in U.S.A. - Pat. APR 22, 1913
On the side it has in one corner a 15 with a circle around it and it also has Crack Shot - 26   and in another corner it has a 14 in a circle.  The gun did belong to my husband's father before he passed.  Now we have it displayed in our living room.  My husband would like to know what the value is.  Do we need to get insurance on it?
Please let us know if you have any info.
Thanks,
Troy and Carla Harper

Answer
Hello Troy and Carla Harper. Your rifle is exactly what it says. A Stevens Crack Shot-26. It was manufactured from 1913-1941. These were fun little guns and just about everyone had one. The value of one in good average condition runs around $75-$100. If it looks OUT of the BOX NEW, about $300.00. I believe every firearm should be recorded in pictures for insurance purposes. I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
