Question
I have an RG 38S swingout pistol (38 CAL. with a 4 inch barrel). It"s about 20 years old and has never been fired (still in original box with paperwork) and I was wondering what it is worth.
Answer
Jimmy.
Please understand that it is not my intention to insult either you or your gun. The firearms made by RG Industries were very low quality, poorly manufactured guns. On more than one occasion, several range masters I know have seen them come apart. They are also known to develop a misaligned cylinder after shooting a few dozen rounds through them causing the cylinder to no longer index with the forcing cone at the rear of the barrel. I would consider them borderline unsafe. In brand new condition, it might be worth $100. I would probably not sell it to anyone that I know or care about...I would definitely not shoot it.
Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news, but I would rather you be informed about the potential issues with this gun.
Regards,
Doug Little
