Question
I have a A-5 that used to be my Grandpas, it was passed on to me. I was told it was a 1936. I went to Browning website ans am unable to get an exact year. The serial is simply, 221831, any idea where I could get more accurate info on this?...Thanks

Answer
Hello Mark. There is no way to get the exact year of the A-5 between 1903 and 1939. I would say it was possibly made between 1936 and 1939. "GUNSMITH ALERT" You do not mention a gauge, but if it is a 16 gauge, it possibly was chambered for a 2 9/16 inch shell. Shooting the 2 3/4 inch shell could build excessive chamber pressure and actually rupture the barrel or worse! I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
