Question
I work for as an unarmed guard and my employeer stated that no guard may keep a firearm in their vehicle while at work. does the new "parking lot law" protect me in any way even though im an unarmed guard?

Answer
Steven,

Unfortunately no.  Guard companies have major liability issues if an unarmed guard has access to and uses a firearm while acting on behalf of a security guard company if they are not licensed as an 'armed guard'.  This is why they all have company policies against unarmed guards having any access to a firearm while on duty.  In most of the guard companies I know, having a firearm in your vehicle while on duty as an unarmed guard will get you fired.  Guard companies have a lot of legal liability to both their customers and under state law which is why they are so particular about it.

As a private citizen or when you are off duty, then there is no issue, but when you are acting in your capacity as a guard, they will require that you adhere to their policies...

Sorry I don't have better news...
