Question
Picture of my Rifle
I recently did some trading and managed to get my hands on an old tube fed, semi-automatic .22 caliber rifle. Upon doing some research, I found that it was a Savage/Stevens Ranger 101-11 A. The patent number to the right of the rear sight is 2094577. The only markings on the rifle are Ranger 101-11 A along the top above the bolt, a "10" in a circle at the base of the barrel on the left side, an uppercase letter "A" about an inch from the base of the barrel on the left side, and the customary "CAL. 22 LONG RIFLE SMOKELESS GREASED ONLY" above the forward hand position on the left side. Also, the left side of the chamber is vented and the little knob to cock it can snap in and out for a reason that I don't know as well as when the chamber is open, the knob slides in as a lock. It has no mounts of any kind and I don't know any history about it. Can you tell me when this rifle was manufactured and any other info you can find. If it's not too difficult, can you tell me what it's worth?
AnswerHello Tyler. You have about all the info you need for this rifle. Value is as a shooter and they don't come much finer for the price. I would place a price of $75.00-$125.00. Here is the man that can give you dates of manufacture.John Callahan 53 Old Quarry Rd. Westfield, MA. 01085. I believe he charges $15 or so. You will need to give him all the info you provided for me and your daytime phone number. I hope this helps steer you in the right direction and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
