amt 380 with laser sight

Question
Hi, I'm a disabled veteran and recently purchased a amt 380 backup
single action. This gun came with a laser attached to the finger
guard. It extends the gun about two inches and is alittle more
difficult to conceal. Is the laser really that important that I should leave it attached? Thanks Gary
Answer
First of all, thanks for your service to our country.
Lasers have their niche, but I don't care for them on any gun. But particularly on this little backup gun, what distance do you think you would engage with it. Most fights involving handguns of any kind are at conversational distances - 21 ft would be an enormous distance, 3-4 feet is more like it. Take the gun to range, shove it in front of you and shoot at a torso sized target at 3-4 feet. My guess is you'll hit it every time. At the distance that little gun was designed to be used at looking for laser dots (or sights) would just slow you down.
