Question
We have a western six shooter by Hawes Firearms Company, and we were wanting to try and find out some information about when the firearm could have possibly been manufactured and possibly how much it is worth. It has the serial number stamped on it twice that we can see it has the number 89 with a leaf above that with 2 (what looks like)crowns, and a symbol inside a circle. That we are not sure about to me(Debbie)looks like a bicycle but not really sure. It also has that it was made in Western Germany by J.P. Sauer & Sohn. Could you help us out please.
Answer
Well Basically what you have is a Western Marshall style revolver made by J.P. Sauer and Sohn, or now known as Sig Sauer, which makes top notch firearms. By all accounts the western marshalls were well made, and production years were from 1968 until 1980 for that particular model. So many variables go into the appraisal of a firearm it is almost impossible to give an accurate appraisal sight unseen. Basically if the gun is in cared for condition, meaning it is used but has been kept rust free and clean, you could probably get 100-120 bucks in a person to person sale.
