Question
Where can I find an owners manual or directions for cleaning and caring for a JC Higgins Model 101 2-3/4" barrel 12 gauge shotgun just inherited? Other markings include model 311A
Answer
Gale,
Your shotgun should not require any special maintenance that would require you to take the gun apart. The directions for cleaning shotguns can be found here: http://www.skeetshootingtips.com/clean-and-care-shotgun.html
Regarding your second question, JC Higgins was a store brand for Sears. The company that actually made the gun was Stevens. The Stevens Model 311 is the equivalent for your shotgun. I am assuming you have a double barrel shotgun.
If it is not a double barrel (there were various model 101 shotguns from JC Higgins), then it is most likely a Savage Model 94. Savage was a sub-brand made by Stevens as well.
Hope this helps you out...
