Question
QUESTION: I have a double barrel shotgun with the name W Richards engraved on it. I am 24 years of age and my mom gave this gun to me. She got it from my grandma and my grandma got it when her dad died.... So its very old but I have no idea how to find information on it. I found the number #5095 and I found #13 on one barrel and #14 on the other. It's damaged with a few knicks and dings, and unfortunately missing a hammer but where could I find information about this gun? Thank you for your time.
ANSWER: Does it say where it was made on it?

QUESTION: No it doesn't say where it was made but it looks as though it has the letters AE stamped on it with a few little symbols that I cant really make out.
Answer
It either a high end English shotgun but there were also knockoffs made in Belgium.
These were imported by H.D.Folsum between 1890 and 1930.
If just says W Richards and no made in England its likily a knockoff
AE and tower (le Perone) are Belgian proof marks
Here is a photos of knock off including photos

There are not worth much in poor condition and may not safe to shoot.
