Question
I have a fairly old 30-30 that I have been told that it is a Smidt-Rueben. I have been trying to find out some info about the rifle. I know that the serial no. on the bolt does not match the no. on the barrel. I have a book about the mfg but my gun is not listed. I would appreciate any info that may might be able to give. If you need any further info please just let me know. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Rodger McGary. First, let's get the spelling right. It is "Schmidt-Rubin". This might help on your future searches. The bolt may have been changed when they re-conditioned these guns and this may account for the dicrepency in the serial numbers. There were a few models I found that could match your gun. Model's SR-1 Norwegian; G11; K31. These all appeared on the scene in the late 50's. I am not sure how the transformation was done, but this may help you to further research your firearm. Thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
