Question
Hello I would like to know if an 185 grain ammo will damage my taurus pt-1911.  its just that the manuel says something about 225 grain but i bought the critical defense ammo which are 185 grain and want to know if safe for it.

Answer
I am not familiar with the Taurus 1911s, but if they are made to spec for dimension and strength there is no reason 185 grain ammunition should damage it. Military Ball Ammunition is 230 grains. Perhaps what Taurus is saying is that the gun is only guaranteed to feed military ball ammunition (mil spec guns will usually only feed this - "spec" guns must usually be throated and polished to feed hollowpoints.

I would not carry or otherwise rely on any defensive ammunition until I put 100 malfunction-free rounds of it through the gun, particularly if that gun is a 1911, which has been called "The king of the feedway stoppages."

If forces to use 230 ball ammunition for reliability - well, a heavy ball almost a half inch in diameter will not handicap you much.
