Bullet firing

Question
At work there are boxes of bullets that break open as they are traveling on powered conveyors. What can cause a bullet to go off other than a gun? We are tring to prove that running boxes of ammo is dangerous. There are pinch points, Places were the bullet can be caught and rubbed on the side. Other packages can hit the ammo package or loose bullets. We have so firearms experts who say that the only way a bullet can off is in a gun or in a fire. I do not believe this.
Answer
The powder inside the cartridge is ignited by the primer. The powder itself is not easily ignitable or ignitable by percussion or rubbing, etc. The primer chemical is ignitable by percussion. The primer uses a fulcrum to control the compression of the primer chemical, and is designed to be activated only when a very sharp blow is concentrated in the center of its firing area. The blow having a minimum depth requirement and a minimum velocity of deformation. This is accomplished by the firing pin of the gun hitting the primer in exactly the right way. I don't see how the primer could be activated by rubbing, pinching, or other types of handlng of the cartridge, or any other action than being hit by a firing pin. So, I think your firearms experts are correct.
Hope this helps!
