Question
Sir, i have a bolt action rifle that reads Springfield Arms Company 22 short-long or long rifle. it has a dove tail 2.5 inches from the receiver on top of the barrel and the only way it attaches to the wooden stock is via a slotted thumb screw that screws into a post dovetailed into the bottom of the barrel. the only # i can find is a 14 in a circle on the left side of the barrel just ahead of the receiver (which is pinned to the barrel. please id the gun and if you know advise where i might find a firing pin and or a new bolt and firing mechanism.....thanks.
Answer
Hello Steve. Can't ID your rifle, since there is no model number. Sears and Roebuck sold rifles under the Springfield name for many years and under many model numbers. Here are two sites that sell parts for 22 cal. rifles. Numrich Arms; Bob's Gun Parts. There are many others. You should take your rifle to a knowledgeable qualified gun smith and he should be able to find the parts you need. I hope this helps and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
