Question
Was given to me when my dad passed in 90. Was told as a kid it belonged to my grandfather who retired as a Lt. from the Phila. police force. Was also told it was a 10 gauge. #39014 on all three stamps. Good shape. Been bagged for over 30 years except for cleaning. What can you tell me? Thanks JIM
Answer
Hello Jim Greeby. The HOPKINS & ALLEN MANUFG. CO. NORWICH,CONN. was the name of the company from 1860's to 1896. After a breif interlude, They came back in 1898 as HOPKINS & ALLEN ARMS CO. and continued production under this name until 1917. It was a good firearm for a shooter, but due to the low price, it never gained the status as a collector's firearm. The 10 gauge may make it a little more interesting to some collectors. I hope this answers your question and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
