Question
Your help please sir.
I just bought a Mod. 12 in 20ga full choke and can't find anything stamped on the bbl that says what length shells ( slugs )it takes. According to the serial number in was made in 1913. If you know of a website that has instructions & schematics for taking it completely apart I would love to have it. It looks like it hasen't been fired in years.
Thanks
Bob
Answer
Hello Bob,
The model 12 is a fairly unique shotgun. During the time of production they were going through various shell length changes. Some of the model 12's fired 2 1/2 inch shells, some fired 2 3/4 inch shells. In either case, the standard quickly became 2 3/4 inch, 3 inch, and now 3 1/2 inch. These are pretty much universal. If you have doubts of the 2 3/4 inch shells fitting the chamber of your model 12, you should consider consulting with a qualified gunsmith and have them check out the gun.
Best of luck!
