Answer
Hello Jeff,
Syracuse Forging and Gun Company basically is a high end collector shotgun that the gun blue book recommends a professional appraisal on if the gun is within 80% of its original condition. The history behind the gun basically is as follows. W.H. Baker made a few guns, eventually joined companies with his brother Ellis Baker and changed the name of his guns to Syracuse Forging and Gun Company in 1887 until early 1889, when the name was changed to Baker Gun and Forging Company. In 1889 their building burned down, Mr. W.H. Baker died and Mr. Ellis Baker moved the company to Batavia, NY. In 1899 Mr Ellis Baker died and in 1919 the company patents were sold to H&D Folsom. Hope this information helped, get that gun appraised you may have found a diamond in the rough!
