QUESTION: I have a smith and wesson 38 special model 12-2 my question being should i be shooting cross p ammo in this revolver and also what would be the most grain ammo you would advise using. Thanking you in
ANSWER: No plus P in alloy frame revolver is not safe.
Are you talking bullet weight or amount of powder?

There no easy answer for grains of powder, as it depends on type of powder and bullet weight.

In terms of bullet weight any thing from 110 grains to 158 grains is ok.
148 grain semi wad cutter at 900 feet per sec will give you the best groups.
There is some variance gun to gun.
