sears 12ga side by coach gun

I have found a sears 12ga coach style side by marked 101.7B serial number is A386431. would like to find the year of manufacture. Think that it was made by Stevens probably a 311 model. any help we can get is appreciated... thanx, dan

Hi Dan,
It is a Savage 311 house branded for Sears.
From 1949 to 1970 there alphabet date code.
If it was made in this time, there will be a small circle with a number and letter stamped inside of it, between the trigger and the hinge pin.
None prior to 1968 had serial numbers.
Since your has one V 1968, W 1969, X 1970.
If made after 1970 the only way to date it do pay the historian to look it up.
