Question
do i need to have a license to have and use a suppressors in nc i want to add one to my Romanian AK-47 and i wanted to know if i need a license to make it automatic
Answer
To buy or have a suppressor, it needs to be transferred according to federal law, (and, of course, state and local law), and there is a $200 federal tax. You need to go to the dealer and get the paperwork filled-out. Then you must get the form signed by the chief law enforcement official of your area (local chief of police, county sheriff, or state district attorney), and get FBI fingerprints taken. The fingerprints can be taken at the county sheriff's office, but you will likely have difficulty getting the CLEO signature. It is not possible in Wake county.
To buy an automatic gun, you need the same papers, etc. as for a suppressor. You could convert your gun to auto fire if you can find a registered auto sear, but not likely you'll find one. (The registered sear transfers the same as an auto gun.) Auto guns and auto sears could not be registered for civilian use since 1986. The only ones on the market were manufactured before then. Ones manufactured since then are only for transfer to police departments or military use.
Hope this helps!
