Info on old gun

Question
Hi, Recently my husband bought an old gun at an auction and we are trying to find some info on it. I hope you can help us, I'm including all the info I have. Thanks in advance for your time.
We've been told it may be an early Savage?
.22 short smokeless cartridge model #1 serial #4703.
That's all that is on the gun. We'd like to find a clip for it if we can find out for sure what it is.

Hello Tamara. I'm not sure why you have no other information stamped on your firearm. Is the barrel rusty or has it been cleaned excessively? You also forgot to tell me if it is a rifle or a handgun. If it is a rifle,I suggest taking the barrel off and check for more stampings on the underside of it. I am sure I can help you with an answer, but I need more details.
